Tea.ology

Tea.ology is along Katipunan Ave right across Ateneo de Manila. The place was a little hard to find since we don't frequent the places up north. We've tried milk tea from different stores and were curious how this store was different. We decided to give it a shot, we think that it's good to try new things every once in a while  :)

Here's the facade

The place gives off a homey feel with the lighting and the comfortable seats. It's a good place to study or catch up with friends.

Here are the different drinks we got to try, we'll tell you about our favorites later!

After trying a couple of their drinks we were allowed to choose whatever we wanted from the menu to take home .

Photobucket

Like any other tea place they served finger food. But unlike the others, they serve chicken nuggets with BBQ sauce, Crispy Potato Puffs and Cheese Filled Hash Browns. We bought one order of the chicken nuggets and cheese filled hash browns to take home because they were pretty good!

These wonderful people attended to us during our stay there and we did have a great experience! Two of the three owners (the ones in black and white) were happy to answer our  inquiries regarding how they make their drinks and what goes into concocting new flavors.

Photobucket

Tea.ology uses freshly brewed tea in making their drinks which ensures the really good quality. Our favorites were the Honey Cinnamon Milk Tea (warm), Frosted Chocolate Milk tea and their Dark Chocolate Milk Tea.

If you're aroud the area it wouldn't hurt to try something new so drop by Tea.ology! They are located at Xanland Place Condo, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.

Seattle's Best Coffee: Milk Tea

We were out in SM Mall of Asia to claim Mimi's free drink at Seattle's Best Coffee. SBC has been our favorite spot to go to, especially when we're killing time or just wanna hang out and talk for a while. Milkshakes and Coffee has been our usual, but Mimi decided to grab of SBC's newest additions, the Milk Tea. It comes with the usual Milk Tea flavors with the difference in Rose Pearls.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I'm a big fan of SBC and their drinks, but I have to admit that I'm not a fan of their Milk Tea. For me, the Rose Pearls don't really go well with it. I've had some really good Milk Tea from other places, but this one is definitely not for me.

Rating: 5/10

She Says: I like it! I really do. I like it because it's different. The rose petals are really flavorful and it's what makes this drink so refreshingly different :)

Schlurp Milk Tea

Milk Tea is more commonly sold in Plastic Cups with a heated Plastic Seal and a big straw, but Mimi discovered a new kind of Milk Tea available in the Market. Schlurp packages and sells their Milk Tea into PET Bottles. Its more Sturdy and easy to drink from, plus they're portable so it's easy to bring around.

THE VERDICT

He Says: These were actually really good. One of the best Milk Tea I've had in a while. Sure there are other big brands out there, but Schlurp is really surprising. Its Milky, Creamy and fills you up the same way other Milk Tea brands do. Definitely must search for these.

Rating: 10/10

She Says: Milk tea with jellies conveniently package so you can bring it around if you cannot finish it in one sitting! :D What I like about this drink is the fact that you can really taste the tea. It's a simple and refreshing drink.

I learned that the makers of Schlurp actually brew tea leaves and blend it with low fat milk. They don't use concentrate because it's unhealthy and they don't use tea bags because it's not as flavorful.

Rating 10/10

Schlurp is available in the following stores:

Gong Cha: Wintermelon Chocolate

Gong Cha is leading the race in terms of the Milk Tea race in the Philippines (that's according to the stall in the G4). They have many great flavors from the regular Milk Tea to their Ice Cream Milk Tea. We decided to try out their Wintermelon Milk Tea and Chocolate Milk Tea.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I'm actually surprised by the taste of the Wintermelon. What looks to be a sweet fruity drink, turned out to be a creamy, milky and sweet tasting drink. Definitely becoming of my favorites. Their Chocolate Milk Tea is a little thicker and creamy than most Chocolate Milk Tea drinks. Very good for both drinks.

Rating: Wintermelon = 10/10; Chocolate Milk Tea = 10/10

She Says: Ever since we've tried Gong Cha in Mall of Asia  it has always been the only place I can go to that will satisfy my milk tea cravings. I've never tried Wintermelon before but i'm really glad I did! I'm also glad that I tried the in gong cha! Even my friends say that it's been the best Wintermelon they've ever had! As for the Chocolate Milk Tea, It tastes like a really creamy dark chocolate drink :) not bad.

Gong Cha: Ice Cream Tea & Milk Tea With Pearls

Okay, so, whenever it comes to Milk Tea, we have own preference of Milk Tea Stores. Normally, we'd go hit up our favorite place in Taft Avenue, but we were in Mall of Asia and we stumbled upon this Milk Tea place called, Gong Cha. Check it out, Ice Cream Tea and Milk Tea With Pearls.

Their little store

Cheaper than usual Teas.

The Ice Cream Tea.

Ice Cream Tea and Milk Tea with Pearls.

The Ice Cream Tea magically transformed into a Milky Substance!

THE VERDICT

He Says: I was reluctant to drink my Ice Cream Tea. One, it tasted like water. Two, you couldn't really taste the Ice Cream. Lastly, you may to stir it to get some flavor. But, if you stir and make sure that the Tea turns into a Milky color, you're in for a world of surprises. It's SURPRISINGLY GOOD. And I realized that half-way through my drink. Gotta stir before you sip. It's really really good. The Milk Tea was sweeter than most and more flavorful. Very LEGIT. I wanna go back for more.

Rating: Ice Cream Tea = 10/10 (when stirred); Milk Tea = 9/10

She Says: I've heard only good things about this place and it was about time that we give it a try. Their Milk tea is a perfect balance between tea and milk. (well, duh!) Compared to other stores that sell Milk Tea you can really taste the tea in their drink :) I seriously wanted to take Gab's drink away from him! It was that good and with only 50% the sugar! I'm actually craving for more right now! Ice Cream Tea FTW! :D

Rating: Ice Cream Tea = 10/10 (when stirred); Milk Tea = 10/10

Bubbatealicious: Taro Milk Tea

THE VERDICT

He Says: I've tasted better Milk Tea. Other people might like the taste of it, but somehow I didn't like it. At all. The taste is boring and plain. Nothing I would buy again and again.

Rating: 3/10

She Says: I guess i'm really biased when I say this but I could hardly taste the TARO in it. It was disappointing.

THE VERDICT

He Says: Okay. Officially. My. New. Milk. Tea. Place. Tea Central never fails to impress! Their Cookie Dough and Dark Chocolate is the BEST!!! Wow. All I can say is WOW! The flavor really explodes in your mouth. The Chocolatey-Sweet Taste hides the real flavor of Milk Tea. Simply AWESOME!

Rating: Cookie Dough = 10/10; Dark Chocolate = 10/10

She Says: We come back here every week or every other day. It really depends on our craving. The cookie dough flavor is distinct but not super strong enough to overpower the milk tea taste. Also, their dark chocolate is nothing less than awesome! I swear! When you're looking for a place to chill, you guys should definitely drop by! :)

Rating: Cookie Dough = 10/10; Dark Chocolate = 10/10

Toffee Slurpee & Mine Shine Milk Tea

7-11 is often the best place to go to buy snacks and little foodstuff you need to satisfy your thirst and hunger. Things there are fairly priced to cater to all classes of the population. 7-11 is famous for it's Slurpees and on the go food, such as donuts, hotdogs and rice meals. Today's review, Mine Shine Milk Tea and the Toffee Slurpee.

The Slurpee Machine.

Groovy Toffee.

Mine Shine Milk Tea

THE VERDICT

He Says: I like Slurpees. I have particular favorites, but the Toffee isn't going to be one of them. It's okay to drink, but it won't quench your thirst. The flavor is a mix of coffee and the fizz of coke. Not really the type to get me to buy it again. Moving on, the Milk Tea isn't my personal favorite. It tastes like water. That's the end of that. Haha.

Rating: Toffee Slurpee = 6/10; Mine Shine = 3/10

She Says: Slurpees are good when you need something really cold to cool you down and if you need something to quench your thirst. This particular flavor only did one of those two and that was to cool you down. It's a mix of coffe with the fizz of coke. Mine Shine is what I buy to satisfy my milk tea cravings a couple of years ago but now that i've found Zen Tea and Tea Central i've realized that it ain't that good anymore.

Rating: Toffee Slurpee = 5/10; Mine Shine = 4/10

Hazelnut Milk Tea: Tea Central

Recently, Milk Tea has been all the rage in the Taft Area. Establishments such as ZenTea, Tea D'Lites and Simple Line have made a name for good Milk Tea. A newcomer has come into the Taft Scene, Tea Central. The place is located above Starbucks and has a few surprises for certified Milk Tea-haulics.

Their Workstation.

A look at their menu.

Gab and their Hazelnut Milk Tea.

The have a Facebook page.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I guess this day was a day of firsts. Love and I had come from Alex III and tried a few dishes there. It wasn't bad, it was actually good. My thoughts on Tea Central? I thought it was going to be crushed by ZenTea. I thought wrong. I tried their Hazelnut Milk Tea and it was good. Really good. It may be a little pricey, but it was worth the money. They have other stuff on their menu I'd like to try, so I'd definitely go back to this place.

Rating:  10/10

She Says: I don't know if it's their really cute logo or the fact that it was something new but one of the two was what probably led us to trying the new place.  We were SUPER FULL from Alex III I don't know where we found the space for milk tea. Some might say it's just another milk tea place but Tea Central offers drinks that you may not find anywhere else at the moment (ex. Their Yakult Series). It's a little expensive for someone on a student's budget but it won't hurt to try every once in a while ;)
