Dippin' Dots: Vanilla, Java Delight & Cookies and Cream

We were at Glorietta after Gab's interview, and after quick bite for lunch, we headed to look for some dessert. Gab had this idea head over to Dippin' Dots, 'cause we figured that we have not had any Dippin' Dots for a while. Dippin' Dots is a well known Ice Cream Innovator, selling Ice Cream is small dots, rather than big scoops. They many different flavors and you can mix flavors in a cup. We thought they were in danger of closing, since Yahoo! reported that they were filing for Bankruptcy, but hey, they're still open.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I'm glad Dippin' Dots is still open. It's really good Ice Cream, but it is kinda pricey. It's something I'd definitely pay for. Their Ice Cream is pretty solid and its really cool how you can mix flavors in one cup. I prefer to stay with more classic flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, etc, and I must say getting those flavors in one cup is the bomb. When they all mix in together the flavors turn out pretty good. Instant Classic.

Rating: 9/10

She Says: Dippin' Dots is expensive. I'm not gonna argue with that. On the other hand, they're unique. You can mix different flavors and eat them together or mix it around and pretend like you made your own ice cream flavor!

Dairy Queen's Dilly Bar

We were over at Gab's Grandmother's House for some dinner and time with the relatives. After some dinner, Gab headed over to the fridge to check out some dessert. He found Dilly Bars from Dairy Queen. Dairy Queen (DQ) has been around for ages. They've been a major player in the Ice Cream Market, and they make really good Ice Cream. More known for their Blizzard, they offer some other Ice Cream Products as well.

Up for the review, DQ's Dilly Bar.

THE VERDICT

He Says: The Dilly Bar has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Since my Grandmother introduced it to me, I wouldn't stop raiding their fridge for it. Haha. It's really Chocolate-y and creamy. It's a bit expensive and hard to get to, but all that aside, it's really good. It's big enough to silence your sweet tooth and easy enough to eat. It doesn't crumble easily, which is a good thing. Ultimately, one of my favorite Ice Cream Treats.

Rating: 10/10

She Says: I've never been a BIG fan of DQ. I wouldn't crave for it nor refuse it. I like how the dilly bar doesn't fall apart at one bite unlike other chocolate covered ice cream treats :) A classic dessert that people still crave for.

Magnum Ice Cream: Chocolate Truffle & Classic

Selecta has recently released their new shoe-in to the cut-throat market of good Ice Cream. Brands such as DQ, Nestle and Magnolia have been coming with different kinds of Ice Cream and Select is not one to back down from these mammoth companies. They've released their Magnum Premium Ice Cream, available at 7-11 and Ministop Branches. Magnum Ice Cream is Premium Ice that doesn't melt quick, and has exquisite flavors. Gab had his share of Magnum back in around 2003-2004 when he was in Australia.

Price: 60php

THE VERDICT

He Says: So they finally came out here in the Philippines. Magnum really packs a punch. It's relatively smaller that the ones that I've had in Aussie, but they pretty much taste the same. The Chocolate is really good and the Ice Cream makes it even better. Every bite is worth the price and I really try to make the best of it. Really good Ice Cream.

Rating = 10/10

She Says: I think it's a wee bit expensive. Shelling out 60php for these treats are a little heavy on the wallet. I think the chocolate truffle was the best. The chocolate coating is thicker than usual chocolate covered ice cream treat. Very easy to eat, not messy at all and i'd suggest that you leave it at room temperature a minute or two before you eat it.

Gong Cha: Ice Cream Tea & Milk Tea With Pearls

Okay, so, whenever it comes to Milk Tea, we have own preference of Milk Tea Stores. Normally, we'd go hit up our favorite place in Taft Avenue, but we were in Mall of Asia and we stumbled upon this Milk Tea place called, Gong Cha. Check it out, Ice Cream Tea and Milk Tea With Pearls.

Their little store

Cheaper than usual Teas.

The Ice Cream Tea.

Ice Cream Tea and Milk Tea with Pearls.

The Ice Cream Tea magically transformed into a Milky Substance!

THE VERDICT

He Says: I was reluctant to drink my Ice Cream Tea. One, it tasted like water. Two, you couldn't really taste the Ice Cream. Lastly, you may to stir it to get some flavor. But, if you stir and make sure that the Tea turns into a Milky color, you're in for a world of surprises. It's SURPRISINGLY GOOD. And I realized that half-way through my drink. Gotta stir before you sip. It's really really good. The Milk Tea was sweeter than most and more flavorful. Very LEGIT. I wanna go back for more.

Rating: Ice Cream Tea = 10/10 (when stirred); Milk Tea = 9/10

She Says: I've heard only good things about this place and it was about time that we give it a try. Their Milk tea is a perfect balance between tea and milk. (well, duh!) Compared to other stores that sell Milk Tea you can really taste the tea in their drink :) I seriously wanted to take Gab's drink away from him! It was that good and with only 50% the sugar! I'm actually craving for more right now! Ice Cream Tea FTW! :D

Rating: Ice Cream Tea = 10/10 (when stirred); Milk Tea = 10/10

Best Vanilla Ice Cream around Taft! Mini Stop Ice Cream

Convenience Stores usually offer customers a one stop place to pick up some groceries and supplies. They can also offer fast food and drinks. One place Love and I have been back to is Mini Stop. Why? Their cheap but delicious Ice Cream. They often change flavors, from Chocolate to Vanilla to the Hershey's Flavors, but one thing that caught out attention was the Vanilla Sundae.

My Ice Cream.

Her Ice Cream.

PRICE: 10PHP

THE VERDICT

He Says: AMAZING! Mini Stop's Vanilla Sundae is cheap and good. It sorta tastes like McDonald's Ice Cream and Jollibee Ice Cream, but at 10PHP. Wow. This was a treat when Love and I first tried it. I wanted to keep going back for more and there are times I did. It's just addicting!

Rating: 10/10

She Says: It's as creamy as McDonalds ice cream only for a cheaper price and a bigger cone! It was one of the few reasons that make us come back to mini stop :) MUST TRY!

7-11 Ice Cream!

Little did we know, 7-11 had Ice Cream. The one near her place sold soft-serve Ice Cream. It came in three flavors: the usual Vanilla, Chocolate and the mix of both. It's pretty cheap. But how does the taste go?  Read it and you'll find out.

Hungry.

For Ice Cream.

She couldn't wait. Haha.

PRICE               15PHP

THE VERDICT

He Says: The Ice Cream is more like Frozen Milk. Nothing special, but at least it isn't bland. And hey, it's clean. The serving size is good enough to tame your Ice Cream craving. It wouldn't be your first option, though. Not bad at 15PHP.

Rating: 7/10

She Says: It tasted like milk. It's a little softer that the usual soft serve. It's good if you want something sweet after you meal. It's serving size is pretty big and it's good to have when you're on a tight budget.
