Goodles: Seven Layer Lasagna & Sarsaparilla

The new and revamped University Mall at Taft Avenue has brought good establishments for the students to access. Food is definitely one of the reasons why students flock to UM. Goodles is one of the new places to eat at. It serves pasta and noodle based dishes, served in the a paper bowl. Up for review, their signature 7-Layer Lasagna and the Sarsaparilla Rootbeer

We're rating the 7 layer lasagna (on the left)
Me and a friend finished the one on the right before Gab got there. teehee

Mike Mark and the Big Bottle of Rootbeer!

With his all time favorite rootbeer, A&W!

THE VERDICT

He Says: 7-Layer is amazing! I thought to myself, "Why didn't I order this when I first tried it out?" Meaty, cheesy and creamy. Something  I look for in a Lasagna. It's slightly sweeter than most because of the cream, but it doesn't kill the experience. The Sarsaparilla was a little disappointing. It sorta tasted like cough medicine and is a little expensive for most carbonated drinks.

Rating: Lasagna = 10/10; Root beer = 5/10

She Says: I wasn't really sure what to try first but the lady suggested that we try the 7-layer lasagna, so we did. It was good! It was meaty and cheesy! Just the way I like my lasagna :) The Sarsaparilla does not taste like commercialized rootbeer it has this aftertaste that's quite unique. Not bad though, it's just something different from your usual can of rootbeer :)

Rating: Lasagna = 10/10; Root beer = 9/10

Time Out: Lechon Kawali and Chicken Leg & Thigh BBQ

Sports Bars are a little hard to operate around the Taft Area, mainly because places are usually busy from Morning to Afternoon. Night times are usually for Drinking Places, Bars, Coffee Shops and some Food Places. Time-Out is a new joint that opened up in the Taft Area, catering to sports junkies and alcohol seekers. Besides the sports theme, the place has a couple of Food items on the menu. Up for review, Lechon Kawali and Chicken Leg & Thigh BBQ.

Lechon Kawali.

Chicken Leg & Thigh BBQ.

THE VERDICT

He Says: Probably one of the BEST Lechon Kawali I've had. It's crispy and juicy. It isn't stale, like those cheap places that offer subpar Kawali. The problem was, I saw was the price. Again, serving size should always play a role in pricing. This was overpriced. It's not bad, though. I believe you should have some cash on you if you wanna sample Time-Out's Kawali. The Chicken Leg & Thigh BBQ is definitely a must try. It's sweet and juicy. And, you don't taste any hint of spice in it. Normally, BBQ can be a little spicy, but this one is good without it.

Rating: Lechon Kawali = 9/10; Chicken BBQ = 9/10

She Says: The food tastes really fresh and it's quite tasty as well! :) The only thing preventing us from eating there frequently is the price. The quality of the food is good but we believe that it's slightly over-priced. The chicken leg and thigh BBQ is super tasty! It's really juicy but I believe that the BBQ taste goes only as far as the skin.

Rating: Lechon Kawali = 9/10; Chicken BBQ = 9/10

Taro Green Tea and Strawberry Lychee: Frutti Froyo

After a very very good lunch at Papa John's Pizza at the University Mall in Taft Avenue, Love and I decided to drop by Frutti Froyo to nab some dessert. Of course, I had my usual Vanilla yogurt, and Love tried the Taro flavor, Green Tea and Strawberry Lychee. Taro sorta tastes like Ube at some point, with a touch of milk.

Love's Yogurt.

FIY: We didn't bother to take a snapshot of mine since it's my usual. Haha.

THE VERDICT

He Says: The Taro and Green Tea flavors were okay. I liked the Taro more because of it's Ube essence. It's like Milky Ube. The others, well, you can bet that I dreaded it a little. I don't really like sour yogurt. Haha. Not my thing.

Rating: 7/10

She Says: I loved them all! The taro and green tea went soooo well together you should try it! The strawberry lychee was okay, not something i'd try again though.

Rating: 9/10

Papa John's: Taft

Like I promised Love, I'd take to one of awesome-est Pizza place I've ever eaten at, Papa John's. Finally they have a branch that's close enough to experience the awesomeness. I've eaten at the Papa John's in the US and this place brings back all the joys of it. Finally, a really good Pizza place around Taft.

THE VERDICT

He Says: Papa John's is by far one of the best Pizza places I've ever eaten at. I've tried the ones in the US and this does not fail to satisfy. Their best sellers are still the best, but the size is different though. But hey, it was enough to fill my tummy. Simply, AWESOME!

Rating: 10/10

She Says: Yummy but not pocket friendly. It's one of the best places to eat when you have the money! Their Garlic Dip is sooo good you just HAVE TO TRY IT! You should give their cheese sticks a shot too! they're enough to fill one's small appetite ;)

Twistix: University Mall

We had just come from an internet cafe and I wanted Gab to try this deep-fried potato that they were selling at the University Mall in Taft. What they do is, they take a potato, put it into their machine that swirls the potato. After which, it's deep friend and sprinkled with a different powders.

Their cool machine.

What it looks like after.

Into the Deep Fryer.

A quick snapshot while waiting.

All covered in cheese powder.

PRICE
Small           50PHP
Medium       60PHP
Large           70PHP

THE VERDICT

He Says: Wow. All I can say is wow. Although the one we ordered was a little too fried, the taste is awesome. It comes in three size which is cool and they are a bit huge for the price. If you're after chips, you should definitely try these out. Addicting and awesome!

Rating: 9.5/10

She Says: I'm not a fan of potato chips but I know Gab was so I wanted him to try it. I wanted to buy one cause it looked super cool when they did it! you can ask Gab how excited I was when they were swirling the potato. hahaha. They were a little too fried for me and they tasted just like potato chips but this time you're assured that it's from a real potato cause you see it yourself. It's good to have once in a while, I guess. (Not a big potato fan)
