Barick's: Grilled Chuck Steak, Tuna Crosttini, Grilled Chicken Alfredo Penne, Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp and Iced Tea.

It was the night of Valentine's Day and we just got back from DLSU after teaching a LEAP Class in BeatBox. Gab's Dad wanted to eat out, so he decided to take us out to Barick's. Barick's is a restaurant in Pampanga that is owned and run by Gab's Auntie. It's been a round for a couple of years and has been getting a lot of attention. Good food plus alcoholic drinks all with a very relaxing environment, this place is surely to make you keep coming back.

Up for review: Grilled Chuck Steak, Grilled Chicken Alfredo Penne, Tuna Crosttini, Spicy Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp and the Iced Tea.

THE VERDICT

He Says:  I've been going here ever since it opened ('cause my Aunt owns the place. Haha.). It never fails to satisfy my steak cravings and the taste is just so good for the price. The Grilled Chuck Steak is the best seller. A big, juicy slab of steak put right in front of you to chow down. It's really good with the gravy and rice. The Bacon Wrapped Shrimp is a new favorite. The flavor of Bacon and Shrimp really go well together, and it's even better with the dipping sauce. Best served with rice. The Tuna Crosttini is something I'm not a huge fan of. Sure it's cheezy, but the Tuna isn't all for me. It's good, but it's not something I'd order regularly. The Grilled Chicken Penne is something I've recently tried. It's creamy and the chicken is cooked really well. Must try this again to be sure of it's true flavor. The Iced Tea is my favorite. It's Tamarind Iced Tea, so you don't really expect the Lipton or Nestea drinks you normally see. The place is just the best.

Rating: Steak = 10/10; Bacon Wrapped Shrimp = 9/10; Tuna Crosttini = 6/10; Chicken Penne = 9/10; Iced Tea = 10/10

She Says: I've been going here ever since Gab and I started dating. It has been 2 years and a half and I still love the place. Their steak is one of my favorite's. We actually got a couple of friends to crave for it whenever they're in the area.  The bacon wrapped shrimp was really good. I found it a little dry to eat on it's own but the sweet and spicy sauce made up for it. We've always wondered what made their Iced Tea different, then we sort of tasted tamarind in it. We're not completely sure what it is but it's something you should try when you're in the area. I liked the tuna crosttini. It was really soft and crunchy bread with tuna and cheese :) I think the tomato salsa made it even better! yummy appetizer! Oh, and I really liked the Chicken Penne because it wasn't drowning in sauce but it was flavorful. My favorite pasta dish from their menu :)

Rating: Steak = 10/10; Bacon Wrapped Shrimp = 8/10; Tuna Crosttini = 10/10; Chicken    Penne = 10/10; Iced Tea = 10/10

Boneless Chicken BBQ and Pork BBQ: Alex III

When you're around the U.N. Avenue area or near the Manila Pavilion Hotel, one place you can eat is at Alex III. We were quite hungry and decided to try this place out. Normally, we wouldn't do something like this, but we did it anyway for your reading pleasure.

Another Best Seller - Boneless Grilled Chicken

THE VERDICT

He Says: This is a first. Normally, I wouldn't try any new place to eat at, unless people give good remarks or the place gets good reviews. Alex III is just your typical kind of restaurant. Nothing special, nothing new. The place feels cozy, but gives off an "old people" vibe. The waiters are sorta aged, but they're very courteous. The place kinda reminds me of Dayrit's over at Paseo de Magallanes.

Moving on to their food, I tried one of their Best Sellers, their Pork BBQ. Looking at it, I sorta thought it would disappoint me, but it didn't. The taste reminded me of Reyes BBQ, especially with their sauce. It was enough to get me full. I'm a big guy with a little bit of a big appetite and it good me full. Not bad. Good place to go to.

Rating: Pork BBQ 9.5/10

She Says: I love love love trying new places to eat! When me and Gab ventured out into U.N. Ave for official business we got hungry and was looking for a place to eat. I wanted ChicBoy cause it sounded silly but noooo he wanted to eat somewhere else but i'm glad we did. Alex III reminded me of Aristocrat and Reyes BBQ. The taste was quite similar to the two but the difference was that we had unlimited sauce unlike in Aristocrat where they give you the small packets pa. It's really good though.

Rating: Boneless Chicken BBQ: 10/10

Lipton Sparkling and Gummy Worms

This day, Mimi had a craving for Sour Candy. So, we dropped one of our favorite quick stop stores, 7-11. We headed towards the Sour Gummy Worms and moved on to their Beverages. Mimi has been telling me about carbonated Iced Tea. We've been searching for it for a while now.
To our surprise, they carried it. Lipton Sparkling.

The "Curvy" Bottle.

One for me, one for her.

Two packs.

Smirk.

Blank face.

The "Worms"

Mimi just likes 'em.

THE VERDICT

He Says: The Iced Tea was really bubbly. It had the soda frizz, but the taste of the Iced Tea. This is some new stuff, but it's cool. The Sour Gummy Worms, well, I'm not a huge fan. But they're good anyway. Not too sour now.

Rating: Iced Tea = 8.5/10; Gummy Worms = 8/10

She says: The iced tea was like what the package said it would be. It was carbonated iced tea nothing else. What I didn't like about it though was that when I was thirsty a sip from it just made my mouth dry. The sour gummy worms are one of my favorites though, not as sour as I expected but it was still yummy!

Rating: Iced Tea = 8/10; Gummy Worms = 10/10

Tattle Craze: Taft

The CSB Backgate area was some pretty interesting places. They have lots of food stalls to choose from, and one place that's been getting a lot of attention since it started, is Tattles. They have cheap food aimed at students and dormers. They deliver to people around the area too, so when you're lazy and you live around Taft, Tattles is one place you have to eat at.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I've been eating at Tattles since I've moved to Taft. It's cheap, it's good and they deliver. Wow. I've tried almost everything on their menu. I call them up whenever I'm at the dorm and I get lazy to walk to eat. Their Omelette is awesome, and their Baked Mac is one of my favorites. Their Iced Tea was a surprise, and so was their Iced Coffee. It's just...Wow. AWESOME!
