KFC: Original Recipe Bites & Cheese Top Burger

Gab found this post laying around our Drafts, so it's about time this review came out into the spotlight. KFC has two new items on their Menu: Original Recipe Bites & Cheese Top Burger. The Original Recipe Bites are pieces of Chicken Fillet in the Original Recipe skin. Much like Funshots, it favors the non-spicy flavor minus the crunch. The KFC Cheese Top Burger puts a spin on the look of Burgers. It places the cheese over the bun, rather than having it inside. Up for review, the KFC Original Recipe Bites & Cheese Top Burger.

THE VERDICT

He Says: The Original Recipe Bites is something I could always run to now. The Hotshots & Funshots get tiring to bite into and sometimes feel like all your eating is the breadings that KFC puts into these bites sized treats. The Original Recipe Bites is different. Easy to chew and meaty, it goes really well on rice & gravy or as a side. The Cheese Top Burger was one for me to try, but sadly, it disappoints. The Cheese isn't too welcoming and feels dry, the mayo sticks out too much & the chicken doesn't taste like Chicken. All hype for me, but it's an okay eating.

Rating: Original Recipe Bites = 9/10; Cheese Top Burger = 7/10

She Says: The Original Recipe Bites is basically bite sized chicken. I find it a little pricey for just a couple of pieces. I'd still prefer the crunch of the fun shots. As for the cheese top burger, the cheese on top made no difference. As you can see in the photo, it was baked into the bread, I am a cheese lover and I was quite disappointed with it :( HOWEVER, the sauce they used in their burger was their saving grace. If it wasn't for the sauce I wouldn't bother buying it again. But then again, a burger and a drink for 50pesos isn't bad when you're on a strict student budget.

KFC Tiramisu & Mango Cheesecake

KFC dessert was usually limited to their Chocolate Mousse and their brownies, but not they've come with a few new flavors, Tiramisu and Mango Cheesecake. Priced at 29PHP each, they desserts are sure to please everybody's sweet tooth and wallets. How do these sweets fair? Let's find out.

Mango Cheesecake

THE VERDICT

He Says: I'm a big fan of the KFC Chocolate Mousse, and that's what the Tiramisu reminds me of. It's a softer and slightly sweeter version of the Chocolate Mousse. It's pretty good considering it's 29PHP. The Mango Cheesecake is not really my thing. I've never been a fan of Mango-based sweets, but this one turned out okay. I wouldn't order it again, but it's all good.

Rating: Tiramisu = 8/10; Mango Cheesecake = 7/10

She Says: Gab wouldn't order the Mango Cheesecake cause he's a picky eater :))) For 29php, they were surprisingly good. they were very tasty! You should try it all!

Rating: Tiramisu = 10/10; Mango Cheesecake = 10/10

KFC Tower Burger

KFC isn't really known for their Burgers. Sure, they have the Zinger and the Chicken Fillets, but their most identified for their Chicken. KFC has released their bid to battle Burger Titans such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy's and Jollibee. The Tower Burger is made up for KFC's signature Chicken Fillet, Greens, Cheese, Mayo and a Hashbrown.

The Tower Burger.

It's said to be 3 inches tall.

But a little messy inside.

Signature KFC Fries to the side.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I've had this before at the KFC-Taft Branch before it went public. They had it and removed it and then they brought it back again. Nothing has changed since then. It take like any other KFC Chicken Burger. The upside is that it's bigger that any other of the their burgers and it has a hashbrown. The downside of it, the hashbrown is nothing but air and it can get messy when you bite of it. There's nothing special about, but it's worth eating it only when you crave for it.

Rating: 7/10

She Says: Nothing special. I wouldn't bother ordering this again and i'd doubt i'd be craving for it anytime soon. I love everything else in KFC, I guess this one just isn't for me.

KFC: Double Down, Krushers and Chocolate Mousse

Widely known for good chicken, KFC has brought it's customers great satisfaction in terms of innovation of chicken meals. Chicken burgers, salads and wraps, KFC has wide variety of chicken variants.

For one that has been on the menu for quite some time, the Double Down has finally become a main stay due to high demand. KFC Krushers have also been making waves since the day KFC first sold it. A dessert that should never be passed up on, the KFC Chocolate Mousse. Up for review, the KFC Double Down, Chocolate Mousse and the KFC Krushers: Cookies and Cream.

THE VERDICT

He Says: The Double Down has been a favorite in KFC for some time. I'm not a big fan, but I'd order it if I feel like it. It's a little salty and the mayo can throw the taste off sometimes. The quality depends on the branch  of KFC. Sometimes the Double Down is better in one place compared to other places. Moving on, the KFC Krushers: Cookies and Cream is actually good. A little too much ice though, but good nonetheless. The Chocolate Mousse is one of my all-time favorites. It has rich taste, but it's kinda small for me.

Rating: Double Down = 9/10; Krushers = 10/10; Chocolate Mousse = 10/10

She Says: The Double Down did not disappoint. I loved every bite of it! The Cookies and Cream Krushers didn't meet my expectations, it wasn't as tasty as I thought it would be. Maybe it was because I was eating the chocolate mousse and the taste of the chocolate mousse was sweet to nullify the sweetness of the krushers? I don't know. The Chocolate Mousse is a favorite dessert of mine :) It's the right serving for someone who wants to have dessert and the taste was and still is very creamy and chocolatey! I loved it!

Rating: Double Down = 10/10; Krushers = 7/10; Chocolate Mousse = 10/10

KFC: They have SALAD?

Usually, when Love and I go to KFC our orders are mostly Chicken, Rice and Soup. Lately, when we go to KFC, I order their Salad. Kinda off a little, eh? KFC is not known for it's salad, but they put it up the menu anyway.

Salad.

Mushroom Soup

Price:

Salad        95PHP
Soup        28PHP

THE VERDICT

He Says: KFC Salad is surprisingly good. At 95PHP you get very good salad. Their Caesar Dressing gives the salad it's taste. The cheese, croutons and chicken are well distributed over the greens. Once the dressing is in place, a little mix in with the greens, you have good salad. It's cheap and you can get it at any KFC Branch. It's pretty amazing that they have it. Hope they don't take it out.

Rating: 9.5/10

She Says: I agree with what he says about the salad. The greens are fresh and crunchy and the dressing is to die for! I'm also a big fan of their mushroom soup. It's more watery than creamy but for 28PHP it's worth it. They also put lots of mushrooms. (take note that this might be a little biased cause I love mushrooms! haha)
