Sentro 1771: Modern Filipino Cuisine

I've walked past this Sentro 1771 a couple of times along Serendra and Greenbelt 3. I've always wanted to try it but never got the chance to. Sentro 1771 has been known for their modernized take on Filipino cuisine and also for their Sinigang na Corned Beef.  I decided to join fellow foodies to finally satisfy my want which was to try their Sinigang na Corned Beef.

Sentro 1771 is a Filipino themed restaurant so it didn't come to a surprise to see the use of wooden chairs and tables.

One of their bestsellers would definitely be their Sago't Gulaman since it's bottomless.

Let's move on to the first (my favorite) appetizer, Fried Kesong Puti.

Tiny pieces of fried cheese. YUM! My friends and I finished every thing on that plate.
MUST TRY! You can eat it with the Tamarind sauce and Garlic sauce. If you're a cheese love like me, you can just eat it as is.

I've never been a fan of brick tofu but this definitely changes my perspective. The crunchy and chewy tofu with their soy and mayonnaise dressing makes you want more.

The next dish is the Fresh Smoked Fish Spring Rolls that reminds me of Vietnamese spring rolls. It's composed of tinapang bangus, salted egg, mustasa, onions and tomato all wrapped  with a thin lumpia wrapper. Delicious! The bangus was the star of the dish and the other ingredients complimented the taste very well.

Their Beef Pinoy Tapa salad is something different since they used tuyo vinaigrette. Besides the use of the Tuyo Vinaigrette, the pieces of the Tapa in the salad were tough to bite and hard to chew. This would probably be something Gab would like cause he likes the texture of jerky.

This is their Tilapia Fillet in Coconut Milk. The fish was cooked so well it practically melts in your mouth. The dish contains a tilapia fillet in coconut milk and spiced with garlic and ginger laid on a bed of spinach leaves.

Who loves spinach? I DO! It's even better when it's paired with glass noodles.

Up next we had one of their best sellers which was RATED GG. The name of the dish is pretty cool and it definitely caught my attention. The dish is comprised of Galunggong fillets fried in garlic oil and topped with crispy garlic bits. The fillets were crunchy and amazingly tasty!

The bone-in-beef shanks were cooked slow until tender and topped with caramelized shallots and sliced potatoes.  Really tasty!

One of my favorites, Sinigang na Corned Beef. I've always wanted to try it and I finally have! This dish did not disappoint.  It also fulfills my standard for sour sinigang because Sentro 1771 will let you taste the soup and ask how sour you would want the singang to be before they serve it. Plus points!

I was never a fan of spicy food so the Lamb Caldereta wasn't anything special to me. My friends did like it though.

DESSERTS!

If i'm not mistaken, we ordered everything on the dessert menu. Everyone was already full but you know what they say, there's always room for dessert!

First up is their Coffee Pie. Don't be deceived by it's size. This slice is pretty heavy since it's densely packed with cream cheese, coffee and chocolate-cashew crust drizzled with toffee syrup. It was so good we had to order another!

Another dish we had to order twice is their Fried Suman and Mangoes. The suman was light and crunchy and the mangoes were sweet and slightly sour.

The best Creme Brulee i've had is found in Sentro 1771. Cracking the thin layer of caramelized sugar got us closer to tasting the silky and creamy chilled custard.

The Coffee Sans Rival caught us by surprise. Aesthetically speaking, I've never seen sans rival served in such a unique and fun way! The thin and crisp layers go well with the strong coffee cream in between each layer.

The Keso Flan is a baked but light, no crust cheesecake that is served with queso de bola and red egg. Something a little different from the usual leche flan.

The Mango Jubilee was hardly touched cause it was vanilla ice cream with diced mangoes and syrup.

Last but not the least, I present to you their Maja Blanca Crepe. These are Maja Blanca cuts wrapped in thin crepes topped with corn kernels and chocolate syrup. Something different from your traditional Maja Blanca.

Overall, Sentro 1771 has taken Traditional Filipino dishes up a notch. I haven't had a favorite Filipino restaurant until i've dined in Sentro 1771. You should give this place a try and you might just have a new favorite restaurant.

C's Italian Dining: Pasta Roberto, Nina Panitizza, Lemon & Watermelon Italian Soda

We were out to celebrate our 29th month together, so Gab decided to make the occasion a little special. We hit C's Italian Dining out in Angeles City. It's 20-25 minute drive from San Fernando and is located near Korea Town and Clark. C's has authentic Italian Cuisine and has fast-growing reputation with people all over. Celebrities, politicians, businessmen, families, all come over to this exquisite restaurant to chow down on some quality food.

Not bad for some good Italian Cuisine

THE VERDICT

He Says: C's has been a family favorite. The entire family comes over to chow down on really good food and share conversation. First off, the Pasta Roberto has been a staple in my family's orders, and it's becoming a favorite of mine. The creaminess of the White Sauce and the slight sourness from the Sundried Tomatoes packed with the tenderness of the Chicken Breast really pack a punch. The dish may appear small, but don't let that fool you. It's quite heavy on the stomach. The Nina Panitizza lives up to the hype. Cheezy, meaty, thin, crispy and flavorful slices of Panitizza best eaten with the alfalfa sprouts and greens make it a really good combo. Simply the best! To quench the thirst, the Italian Sodas are the simply amazing. Bubbly, fruity and cool. Nothing beats it's kick. The only downside to C's is the price of the food. It's not exactly cheap, but it isn't super expensive. My suggestions would only be, come loaded with cash and come hungry. You're in for a treat!

She Says: I've eaten in a lot of Italian restaurants in my life but this place just sky rocketed to the top of my list. The Panizza was tasty and very fun to eat!  The big chucks of bacon were sooo good. The Pasta Roberto was heavy. It was very creamy and it wend great with the sundried tomatoes and the chunks of chicken. The italian soda's were just right :) Bubbly and refreshing. Food was really good and I do not see any reason why we shouldn't go back.  The price is a little steep though but it's all worth it. This place does not disappoint.

Kenny Roger's Big Breakfast

Lately, we have not been the type to catch Breakfast Meals. Sure, we get the occasional Tropical Hut Breakfast, but we've been running after the Kenny Roger's Big Breakfast for a while. So finally, here it is, Kenny Roger's Big Breakfast.

THE VERDICT

He Says: Yes! We finally did it. We made it in time for their breakfast, haha! It's really big and really good. The pancakes were done just right and their syrup and butter made it better. The eggs were perfect. The Schublig was a little dry, but it was still good. Their Bacon was a little different. It felt like thin cuts of Porkchop, but I ate it anyway. Really good breakfast.

Rating: 10/10

She Says: The bacon was red and crispy the last time I ate there :( I don't know what happened :( Overall, it was really good. The frankfurters, the pancake and the scrambled eggs were delish!

California Pizza Kitchen: Carbonara and Hawaiian BBQ Pizza

Pizza, anyone? Where's a good place to chill, good food and delicious pizza and pasta? You'd think this place, that place, but we're pretty sure you're not thinking about California Pizza Kitchen. CPK is really good restaurant with a good vibe and good food. Up for review, Hawaiian BBQ Pizza and Carbonara.

Um. Gangsta Harry Potter? Haha.

A little ouch on the wallet.

THE VERDICT

He Says: I want my resto to look like this place. The vibe is just so chill, plus it has a great view. Moving on to the food. The Carbonara is very creamy and good. Thick enough and flavorful. Downside is that it's a little small. Love and I bought a sharing size place, but it wasn't enough. The Pizza is something. Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce with good Chicken. Definitely coming back for it. I wanna try their Salad too. I heard it's good.

Rating: Pizza = 10/10; Carbonara = 9/10

She Says: I've been a fan of this place since I was young and it's still one of my favorite places to eat! Their pizza, tasty! you can really taste the fresh ingredients and serving time is really quick. I also found their serving size just right :) I don't think Gab remembers how FULL we were when we ate there. haha. The place is very chill. The staff are very attentive to our needs. We just turn our heads and they come right up. :)) We will definitely come back :)
